Pittsburgh Places a Good Bet on March Madness

According to VisitPittsburgh, the city can expect to see $7 million in direct spending during March Madness.

The Consol Energy Center is hosting the second and third rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship games this weekend.

Approximately 18,000 people are expected to attend for each game Thursday and Saturday.

According to ZipRecruiter, an online employment service for small and medium businesses, Pittsburgh was fourth in the country for highest growth for adding new employees in the month of February.

The other top cities for hiring were Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Tampa, Florida.

Pennsylvania Continues to Export More Than Most

In 2014, Pennsylvania exported $40.2 billion worth of merchandise. While this is down slightly from 2013 – 2.2 percent, the Commonwealth remains one of the Unites States’ top exporting states.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration ranks each state in regard to exports. Pennsylvania came in at number 10.
